Abstract
Diagnosing cardiovascular diseases in elderly patients is a major part of the clinical practice of general internists, family physicians, and cardiologists. Although invasive testing usually is the “gold standard” for diagnosing cardiovascular diseases, physicians often desire less invasive and less expensive procedures with fewer risks to help diagnose diseases and to follow patients with known disease. Technological advances have made a wide array of invasive and noninvasive modes of clinical studies available which, if used appropriately, add to our ability to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases in elderly patients.
