Abstract

The purpose of this communication is to consider whether mycoplasmas infect amniotic fluid, and, if so, the circumstances under which infection occurs. Attention is drawn also to the consequent effects of such infection both clinically and on cells that are cultured from amniotic fluid that has been withdrawn by amniocentesis.
