Abstract

Bienaymé’s breadth of interests has been pointed out in §1.3. In this section we note one of his more unusual pieces of work, namely his presentation (1841) to the Academy of Sciences of a perpetual calendar. Unfortunately no details are given save that the calendar was of the chart kind, involving marking on the same plan the date and day of the week.
