Abstract
Let A be a normal subgroup of a group G, and let p: G → GL(V) be an irreducible representation of G. Then:
-
(a)
either there exists a subgroup H of G, unequal to G and containing A, and an irreducible representation a of H such that p is induced by σ;
-
(b)
or else the restriction of p to A is isotypic.
