Abstract
There is a set idea relating to the part played by the context in the teaching of Mathematics which, in my opinion, is largely responsible for what one calls “failure in Mathematics”. It concerns the idea that children are put off by abstraction and that the greater their difficulties of learning the more they need to be taught Mathematics in a camouflaged form, these forms being related as much as possible to everyday life and as near as possible related to the child’s own experience.
