Abstract
Cellular immunologists during the past decade have devoted enormous attention to lymphocytes with T and B cell origin and have made a great deal of progress in understanding the biology of these cells. A vast literature testifies to an exquisite job of characterization of these cells with regard to surface markers, differentiation pathways, and developmental genetics. In addition, molecular immunologists have begun to isolate and characterize various growth factors that are important in the normal biological function of these cells in lymphatic tissues.
