Abstract
Both carotid body chemoreceptors and carotid sinus baroreceptors are influenced by efferent fibres supplied via the sinus nerve and direct sympathetic branches. These efferent fibres were subjected to a histochemical investigation to obtain more information on the possible transmitters and modulators involved in this efferent-afferent interaction.
