Part of the book series: Ettore Majorana International Science Series ((EMISS,volume 14))

Summary

An analysis of the performance of large solid angle detectors to be used at colliding beam facilities is attempted, with a view of reducing the overall dimensions, yet keeping a satisfactory quality of the data. Special attention is given to position measurements and particle identification and to high event rates.
