Abstract
Experiment E706 is designed to study interactions of protons, pions and kaons in a variety of targets, triggering on high transverse momentum (greater than 4 GeV/c) electromagnetic showers. This is a second generation fixed target experiment, using high energy beams (800 GeV primary protons from the Fermilab Tevatron), and a wide acceptance spectrometer, intended to reach 10–11 GeV/c in direct photon transverse momenta.
