Abstract
In 1975 Hackloer3,4 and the authors8,9,10 reported the possibility of visualizing echographically the pre-ovulatory follicle. Practical applications in the surveillance of ovulation-induction treatments and the techniques of artificial insemination demanded a more precise knowledge of the dynamics of normal follicle development. The present work comprises a study of follicle growth and disappearance as observed by echography. At the same time, basal temperature curves, plasma hormone levels and cervical changes were followed to situate the chronology of ovulation. These indirect parameters of ovulation were later correlated with the direct observation of follicle growth and ovulation by echography.
