Physical and Mental Development of Children Born Through Aid

Abstract

Artificial insemination with donor semen(AID) is the major technique employed in the therapy of couples with infertility secondary to severe oligospermia and azoospermia. Over the past deeade, there have been favorable changes in public, legal and medical attitudes towards AID. Significant progress in research, both basic and applied, has contributed to these changes. There still remains however a lack of critical evaluation on the genetic adequacy or stability of progeny resulting from cryopreserved human semen which seems to be one of the major arguments against clinical use of frozen human semen.
