Abstract
An atomic absorption method for the determination of bismuth and tellurium in exposed animal tissue is described. Samples are wetashed with nitric acid. A hydrochloric acid solution, containing 4 mg of tissue ash per ml of solution, is used for the determination of Bi and Te. No chemical separations are used. The effects of the total salt concentration on the determination, the recovery data from spiked samples, and the precision of the method are discussed. Concentrations as low as 1.5 µg of bismuth and 2.0 µg of tellurium can be determined in 1 g of animal tissue.
