Abstract
The observation that recently synthesized transmitter is more easily available for release than the rest of the store, when synaptic activity is induced by stimulation, is certainly a well accepted finding (11). It is also well established that up to 70% of the transmitter is found in synaptic vesicles in a bound form, since it is protected from the action of esterases. The isolation of cholinergic synaptic vesicles extremely rich in acetylcholine (ACh) from Torpedo electric organ has been achieved by several investigators (28-30,50).
