Abstract
Aspects of the carbidization that occurs during the soldering of graphite by means of zirconium and molybdenum foil have been studied. Optimum soldering conditions — a temperature of 2200°C and a holding time of not less than 3 min — have been determined. Under these optimum conditions the strength of the soldered joint is not less than that of the base material.
