Filtration Pressure and Glomerular Permeability in HgCl2-Acute Renal Failure in the Dog

There are essentially four mechanisms that can explain the filtration fall that is observed during experimental acute renal failure: tubular back-leakage, tubular obstruction, a decrease of glomerular permeability and a fall in effective filtration pressure due to hemodynamic changes. The studies that make an attempt to characterize these different mechanisms are rare and focus in most of the cases on the maintenance phase but not on the initiation phase of acute renal failure.
