Abstract
The change in the dislocation density of a Zr-25%Nb alloy on plastic deformation and annealing is determined by subjecting the shape of the x-ray lines to harmonic analysis and applying the method of micro x-ray diffraction. A rise in critical current density may even take place on reducing the dislocation density but also on the presence of well-dispersed second-phase inclusions when these have poor superconducting properties.
