Abstract

The effect of alloying with Zr, Hf, V, Ta, Mo, W, and Re on the structure and properties of a Nb-75%Ti alloy is studied. In the quenched, cold-worked state, these alloys constitute solid solutions with a bcc lattice. Zirconium and hafnium increase the lattice constant of the original alloy, Mo, W, and Re reduce it, while Ta has hardly any effect. All the additives in question reduce the critical current as compared with the original alloy in the cold-worked state. The transformation temperature is slightly higher in ternary alloys containing Zr, Ta, V, Mo, and W (up to certain percentages); rhenium reduces TK.
