Part of the book series: Materials Science Research ((MSR,volume 17))

Abstract

It has been widely recognized that the development of new materials is indispensable to the establishment of original science and technology. There are two approaches to the development of new materials. One is to develop quite new materials which have never existed, and the other is to add new functions to existing materials. The research and development of composites include both approaches simultaneously.
