Fast On-line Analysis of Fission Products and the Products of Heavy Ion Reactions

Abstract

Fission products which emerge with high kinetic energies of about 50 to 100 MeV from thin sheets of Uranium are highly ionized (1). Their ionic charge numbers are distributed between about 18 and 26. Rays of these particles therefore can be deflected in magnetic and electric fields of reasonable small size. The radii of curvature of their trajectories in the fields are of the order of 1 to 3 m.
