Abstract

Third-sound resonance experiments1,2 have shown that the superfluid helium film can be studied with remarkable precision. In a series of experiments to study the effect of 3He on a 4He film of constant thickness we have observed several qualitative changes in the propagation of third sound.

This research was supported in part by the Advanced Research Projects Agency under Contract HC 15-67-C-0221 and National Science Foundation Grant GH 33634.
