Quantum Lattice Gas Model of 3He–4He Mixtures

Abstract

The quantum lattice gas model of Matsubara and Matsuda1 has been applied with much success to the liquid-gas and superfluid transitions2 of liquid 4He, to the solid phase3 of 4He, and to the question of the existence of a superfluid solid phase4 of 4He. We consider here the extension of this model in order to apply it to 3He-4He mixtures. After defining the model we shall obtain its phase diagram within mean-field theory.
