Abstract

Gene expression is altered in Werner’s syndrome (Salk, 1982). Investigation of how, when, and where these alterations occur requires fundamental understanding of the regulation of genes in normal states--during development and aging--and in diseased organisms. Unfortunately, much of this information is lacking; therefore, only specific aspects of gene expression in Werner’s syndrome can be compared to the normal counterpart with any real understanding. However, newly designed tools in biochemistry and immunology have opened areas of investigation previously unaccessible.
