Abstract

During the past two decades research into high-temperature polymers and adhesives has received considerable attention. Much of the progress in this field has been due to the efforts of a number of U.S. Government and industrial laboratories. The performance requirements of materials for various applications involving composites and adhesives for spacecraft, aircraft, missiles, rockets, and jet engines have been the main motivation behind this research. Even though conventional adhesives, such as epoxides, are widely used in the aerospace industry, they are not capable of meeting the challenge of many new applications.
