Nutrition, Growth, and Development

Abstract

This chapter will attempt to review briefly those areas in nutrition, growth, and development in which major advances have been made during the last few years. Of necessity, the areas covered are highly selective and the selection both arbitrary and subjective. No attempt is being made to cover the entire literature in any of the areas. Rather, a number of studies related to an area will be discussed and, it is hoped, placed in context of the major advances that have occurred in that area and the direction that future studies are likely to take. Where there are still major gaps, this will be noted and approaches designed to fill these gaps commented on.
