Abstract
A detailed study has been made of the intensities of the L, M, and N X-ray spectra for wavelengths in the region from 2–85 Å. Some of the lines of these spectra involve energy levels which are gradually being depopulated with decrease in atomic number, and this leads to a progressive simplification of the spectra as the wavelength increases. Spectra have also been obtained from several compounds involving these elements in different valence states. Differences in relative intensities have been observed for these compounds, but because of a lack of accurate information about absorption, it is impossible as yet to give such results an adequate interpretation.
