Abstract
The ultimate requirement of purity for radiochemicals depends upon the design of the particular experiments in which they are employed. The maximum level of impurities, regardless of their nature, that can be tolerated must be significantly less than the minimum change to be detected. Should they be greater, the labeled compound may still be validly employed, if it can be demonstrated by suitable control experiments that the impurities do not contribute to the observed change.
