Abstract
A series of experiments has been performed on exploding small wires in times less than 10−7 sec with peak specific power levels between 5 · 1012 and 2 · 1014 w/mol. The processes occurring in the wire prior to and during the explosion process have been studied.
This research was supported by the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Contract AF 49(638)-1063 and Aeronautical Systems Division, Air Force Systems Command, U.S. Air Force Contract AF 33(616)-8230.
