Abstract
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease or jejunoileal by-pass have a high incidence of hyperoxaluria and an increased risk of forming renal calculi. In patients forming idiopathic calcium-containing kidney stones about 2 to 30% of the patients have been found to have renal tubular defects such as defective acidification of urine, tubular proteinuria, phosphate leak etc. The aim of the present study was to investigate a group of patients who had undergone jejunoileostomy because of obesity with respect to risk factors of calcium stone formation and renal tubular function.
