Abstract
Headache is one of the most common neurological complaints of childhood. Only seizures and problems with behavior and learning are referred more frequently to the pediatric neurologist. This symptom always raises the specter of serious, and perhaps life-threatening, neurological disease. An understanding of the mechanisms of cephalalgia, and a thorough history and neurological examination, allow the physician to quickly clarify the issues and prescribe appropriate therapy.
