Abstract
A number of acute neurological disorders of childhood are regularly associated with a preceding illness, either one of the classic exanthematous diseases or a “nonspecific” upper respiratory tract infection. Although other family members may share the same prodromal symptoms, they rarely go on to manifest involvement of the CNS.
