Abstract
A milestone British-made task light which draws its robust beauty purely from function, this lamp has a universal joint at the head of its arm and hinge-plate which fixes the arm at any point to the base stem to allow for maximum flexibility of height and angle, ensuring that light can be directed efficiently onto the work surface. The shade and base are made of painted spun metal; the tube and joints are chromium plated. The Bestlite has proved an enduring classic: a clear demonstration that an industrial aesthetic can be acceptable in a domestic setting.
