Abstract
In attempting to meet the need for the very large number of different calculations that surveyors have to perform, surveying packages become collections of many diverse computation routines. For example, Survey System I.I includes a selection of routines for coordinate geometry calculations for traverse entry and reduction, topographic reduction, and stakeout, as well as a sunshot routine, and calculations for specific surveying applications to such areas as sewers, earthwork, roadways, and public lands; there is even a legal description routine.
