Aliphatic carboxylic acids and their derivatives

  • Chapter
Chemistry of Pesticides

Abstract

The saturated aliphatic monobasic and dibasic carboxylic acids have a relatively low pesticidal activity and a practical use has not been found for them. For the pea aphid the insecticidal activity of the acids and their salts increases with increasing molecular weight and reaches a maximum in lauric acid, after which it falls. The unsaturated acids are more active than the corresponding saturated analogs.
