This paper summarizes the results obtained in collaborative works with T. Ragot and M. Pérricaudet (Villejuif, France; for the minidystrophin experiments, see ref. 1), with J. Tinsley, R. Fisher, S. Phelps, K. Davies (Oxford, England; for the utrophin experiments, see ref. 2) and with our colleagues F. De Backer, D.Kahn and G.Maréchal, see refs. 1–3).
