Abstract

Helicobacter pylori has been shown to cause active chronic gastritis and has been implicated in the aetiology of peptic ulceration in both the stomach and duodenum. Although the subject of intense clinical investigation, H.pylori remains poorly characterised at the biochemical and molecular levels, and little is understood regarding possible mechanisms of pathogenesis.
