Expression and Possible Biological Functions of Curli on Infantile Diarrhoea Escherichia coli Isolates

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Federation of European Microbiological Societies Symposium Series ((FEMS,volume 58))

Abstract

Froman et al. (1) reported on fibronectin (Fn) binding to enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli and demonstrated two different binding mechanisms. Studies by Ljungh et al. (2) showed that also human enteropathogenic E.coli (EPEC) of different O:H serotypes as well as uropathogenic E.coli and strains isolated from septicaemia and other human infections bind Fn.
