Abstract
Streptomycetes are not only important producers of numerous antibiotics and enzymes, but they are also of increasing interest as alternative bacterial hosts for the production of eukaryotic and other heterologous gene products. Recombinant vector plasmids with sufficient structural and segregational stability under non-selective conditions are necessary for this purpose.
