Abstract
The concept that infection plays a part in the pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has been considered for over 100 years.1 It is therefore appropriate to review the evidence to see why this concept is still very much in the forefront of present-day investigation into the etiology of this disease and to look at new ideas that might contribute to solving this elusive problem.
