Abstract
Human placental syncytiotrophoblast expresses cell surface receptors for a number of growth factors including those for epidermal growth factor (EGF) (Richards, 1983), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) (Goustin, 1985) and insulin (Lai, 1981). mRNA transcripts coding for the receptor for macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF), have been identified in fetal syncytiotrophoblast (Hoshina, 1985). Cell-surface receptors for transferrin (Loh, 1980) and for the Fc region of human immunoglobulin G (IgG) (Johnson, 1981) are also expressed.
