Potentiometric Polarographic PO2 Electrode (PO2-PPE)

  • Chapter
Oxygen Transport to Tissue XI

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 248))

Abstract

Polarographic electrodes in general have the disadvantage of being “poisoned” by many chemical substances which are dissolved even in only minimal amounts in the electrolyte solution making the contact between the cathode and the anode. This electrode-poisoning causes substantial drift and therefore limits the accuracy of long-term measurements.
