Abstract

We reported that improvement in glucose metabolism with prolonged oral therapy is associated with prevention of glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria in KK mice. However, it is not known whether short-term insulin treatment with improvement in glucose metabolism would similarly prevent the development and progression of glomerulosclerosis in these KK mice. We provide evidence that good glycemic control by early insulin therapy improves both glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria in KK mice.
