Abstract
The focus of this chapter is an overview of federal funding of transplantation, specifically of the operations of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA)—its structure vis-à-vis decision-making on transplantation issues, the status of funding for various types of transplants, and current and future activities involving transplantation services.
