Abstract

This chapter reports on the criteria for establishing brain death used at Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children, Atlanta, Georgia. It also reviews the October 16, 1984, opinion of the Georgia Supreme Court in the case of In Re: L.H.R. addressing the issue of the circumstances under which life-support systems may be removed from an infant whose examination does not meet the criteria for establishing brain death.
