Abstract
This book is about animal models of psychiatric illnesses. It is oriented primarily toward clinicians, to provide an overview of a new and rapidly developing area of psychiatry, but with sufficient technical accuracy so that researchers in the area will also find it useful. The latter group can follow developments in this area by tracking relevant journals. However, the problem for clinicians who are not intimately involved with this research area is that the literature is widely scattered in journals that span experimental and developmental psychology, ethology, animal behavior, clinical psychiatry, primatology, psychopharmacology, and the neurosciences, to mention only a few examples.
