Abstract
It has been shown previously that the intravenous (i.v.) injection of cholecystokinin (CCK) into healthy adult volunteers will result in a rise of antibodies belonging to the A, M, E and D classes of immunoglobulins (1,2). It appeared likely that these antibodies were derived largely, if not wholly, from the gall bladder and the pancreas, as CCK is known to cause gall bladder contraction and to promote secretion of pancreatic enzymes. It could, however, not be excluded that CCK had a direct effect on the intestinal release of immunoglobulins. This report, therefore, deals with the effect of CCK on the release of IgA in an isolated perfused loop of rat intestine.
