Abstract
In spite of significant potential, the actual impact of the behavioural sciences on medicine, the delivery of health care, and the issues of health and illness in general, has for the most part been negligible (Agras, 1982)! The purpose of this chapter is to examine some of the reasons for this failure and to present a detailed description of a model which, by providing a method for integrating behavioural and medical sciences, can help contribute to the solution.
