Abstract

Hormonal implants have been in the process of research and development for the last 17 years. Up to the present time the only model which has become a finished product is the NORPLANT(R)* implant system, manufactured by Leiras Pharmaceuticals from Finland under license from the Population Council of New York. A few other models, such as CAPRONOR(R) and a second NORPLANT implant system, are well advanced in the development process.
