Abstract

The normal function of neurons in the nervous system depends upon the orderly formation and maintenance of appropriate connections with other neurons and with non-neural target tissues. Knowledge of these processes is thus basic to our understanding of the biology and physiology of the nervous system, and the sequelae to insult or dysfunction among the interacting elements.
