Opiate Receptors

  • Chapter
Handbook of Neurochemistry

Abstract

This review begins with a brief summary of the discovery and earlier studies of opiate receptors. The major portion of this chapter is devoted to the more recent advances in our knowledge of these receptors. Opioid peptides are cov ered only with respect to their interactions with their receptors, since their physiology and biochemistry are reviewed elsewhere in the Handbook.
