Many Body Calculations of Photoionization

  • Conference paper
Atomic Physics 8

Abstract

There has been great interest in photoionization during the past decade, both experimentally1 and theoretically.2 Many interesting properties of photoionization have been measured by laser spectroscopy and particularly by synchrotron radiation3,4. During this same period theoretical techniques which can account for electron correlations have been developed and refined. Many calculations have been carried out using many-body perturbation theory (MBPT)5, R-matrix theory,6 the random phase approximation with exchange (RPAE),8 and other related techniques. This article will focus on nonrelativistic calculations since relativistic calculations such as the RRPA will be covered in the article by W. Johnson in this volume.
